Best .io Games of 2026: 10 Free Browser Favourites

How we picked

We play .io games for a living, since we make one, so we've judged this list on what matters in a browser: it loads fast, the rules click in seconds, there's real depth if you stick around, and there are enough players at normal hours. Orb Arena is our own game. It's included in its category, and we've tried to be as honest about it as about everything else.

Last checked: November 2026.

Eat-and-grow

Agar.io. The original is still running. The rules are pure, and the split and feed tricks still have a real skill ceiling.

Senpa.io. The best "modern Agar". It has the same core plus clans, events and a choice of modes.

Orb Arena. It's eat-and-grow with a shrinking Storm ring, so rounds end in a showdown instead of a stalemate. It adds a Daily Challenge with XP streaks, cosmetic-only skins and trails unlocked with XP, and a live top-ten leaderboard. You face ten computer-controlled rivals, so a round starts instantly. Pick it if you want short, tense three-minute rounds.

Battle royale and survival

Survev.io. A top-down shooter with looting, gear and a closing zone. If you want a full battle royale without installing anything, this is it.

Orb Arena (again). It isn't a shooter, but its Storm creates the same end-of-match squeeze. Read how the Storm works.

Land-grab and territory

Paper.io 2. Draw loops to claim ground, and protect your trail. It's easy to learn and punishing to master.

Splix.io. The leaner grid original of the genre. It's quick to load and great on weak laptops.

Superhex.io. Paper.io rules on a hex grid. The borders are chunkier and the land grabs read more clearly.

Builds and upgrades

Diep.io. Tanks, upgrade trees and constant decisions. It's the best choice when you want your build to matter as much as your aim.

EvoWars.io. Each level makes your warrior and sword bigger but slower. It's a neat take on the size-versus-speed trade-off.

Strategy

Territorial.io. A slow, thoughtful game for hundreds of players at once, where you budget attacks and make truces. It's very different from reflex games and very rewarding.

Digdig.io. Not pure strategy, but its diggable terrain rewards planning routes and ambushes more than most.

What makes a great .io game in 2026?

The genre has matured. The games that last share three traits:

  1. Instant start. No account, no launcher, one click to play.
  2. A reason to come back. Daily goals, streaks, seasonal events or ranks.
  3. Fair monetisation. Cosmetics and optional supporter items rather than paying for power.

We built Orb Arena around those three ideas. Instant play, a daily streak, and skins that change how you look and nothing else.
